The United Kingdom’s Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff, Lt Gen Sir Charlie Collins, has visited Maiduguri, Borno State, for discussions with the Nigerian Army on security cooperation.
The British Defence Staff West Africa confirmed the visit on Tuesday via its official X handle, saying the engagement is part of efforts to strengthen UK-Nigeria defence ties and support counter-terrorism operations.
According to the statement, the visit reflects ongoing collaboration aimed at improving security and stability in West Africa amid continued insurgency threats.
Collins was received with a guard of honour and held meetings with senior Nigerian Army officials during the visit.
Photos shared from the event showed ceremonial exchanges, handshakes, and formal military engagements between both countries’ officers.
The visit comes as Nigeria continues to expand international partnerships in its fight against terrorism, particularly in the North-East.
