The Abu Dhabi Government Media Office confirmed that emergency authorities in the United Arab Emirates are battling a fire at the Ruwais Industrial Complex, a strategic oil and petrochemical hub operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), following a suspected drone attack.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, inside the sprawling industrial zone in Al Ruwais, located approximately 230 kilometres west of Abu Dhabi city. The complex houses the Ruwais Refinery, widely recognised as the largest single-site oil refinery in the Middle East, with a processing capacity of nearly one million barrels of crude oil per day.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the refinery itself was directly struck by the unmanned aerial vehicle. However, emergency response teams and firefighters were rapidly deployed to contain the blaze and prevent further damage to surrounding energy infrastructure.

Security analysts believe the attack may be connected to escalating Iran–Israel tensions in the Middle East, where strategic energy installations have increasingly become targets of drone and missile strikes.

Energy experts warn that any disruption at the Ruwais facility could have significant implications for global oil markets and regional security.
