United States President Donald Trump presented the FIFA World Cup trophy to Spain after the European champions defeated Argentina 1-0 in extra time to win the 2026 World Cup on Sunday.
The presentation took place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where Spain claimed their second World Cup title following a dominant display against the defending champions.
Trump joined FIFA President Gianni Infantino on the pitch for the post-match trophy ceremony as Spain celebrated a memorable victory.
Spain controlled much of the final but had to wait until the 106th minute of extra time for the breakthrough. Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal after connecting with a headed pass from Nico Williams, sealing a hard-fought win over Argentina.
The triumph marked Spain’s first World Cup title since lifting the trophy in South Africa in 2010 and ended Argentina’s hopes of retaining the crown.
The trophy presentation brought the curtain down on a month-long tournament hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico, with Spain crowned world champions after an impressive campaign.
