Trump Blasts Democrats After House Votes To Limit His Iran War Powers

US President Donald Trump has fiercely criticised Democrats and a handful of Republican lawmakers after the House of Representatives passed a resolution seeking to limit his authority over the ongoing conflict with Iran, describing the move as an act driven by “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Trump’s outburst came after the House approved a war powers resolution ordering the withdrawal of American troops involved in the Iran conflict, marking a significant political setback for the president as his administration continues negotiations aimed at ending hostilities with the Islamic Republic.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump accused Democrats and four Republican lawmakers who supported the measure of undermining national interests at a critical moment.

“Yesterday, in a meaningless vote, the House voted, four bad Republicans and all of the Democrats, to limit my War Powers, right in the middle of my final negotiations to end the war with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Who would do such an unpatriotic thing?” Trump wrote.

He further claimed that lawmakers backing the resolution were fully aware of the status of ongoing negotiations and alleged that Democrats were motivated by political hostility rather than national security concerns.

The House resolution represents a rare bipartisan challenge to presidential military authority and reflects growing concern among lawmakers over the cost, duration and political consequences of the conflict with Iran.

The vote also exposed divisions within the Republican Party, with some members breaking ranks to support congressional oversight of military operations.

While the resolution signals increasing resistance to the administration’s Iran strategy, it still faces additional legislative hurdles, including consideration in the Senate, before it can have any binding effect.

The latest clash underscores escalating tensions between the White House and Congress over the direction of US foreign policy, as debate intensifies over America’s military involvement in the Middle East.
