U.S. President Donald Trump says he has authorised the deployment of thousands of missiles against Iran if any alleged assassination plot against him is carried out, declaring that the American military has standing orders to launch a devastating retaliatory strike.
In a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday US time, Trump claimed the United States had “1,000 missiles locked and loaded,” with thousands more available for immediate use should Iran attempt to kill him.
“Orders have already been given, and the U.S. Military is ready, willing, and able… to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran,” Trump wrote.
His comments came after reports citing Israeli intelligence alleged that Iran continues to pursue plots to assassinate the American president.
Relations between Washington and Tehran have remained tense since the 2020 U.S. drone strike that killed Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani during Trump’s first term, an operation that prompted repeated threats of retaliation from Iranian officials.
Trump’s latest warning also comes amid renewed friction between the United States and Iran following the collapse of a ceasefire, adding to growing concerns over a wider escalation of tensions across the Middle East.
