Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos has welcomed Vinicius Junior’s decision to commit his future to the Spanish giants after the Brazilian winger signed a new long-term contract with the club.
Vinicius had been locked in contract negotiations with Real Madrid for several months, fuelling speculation over his future amid reported interest from Premier League side Arsenal.
The Gunners were widely linked with a move for the 26-year-old and were reportedly prepared to make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League.
However, Real Madrid ended the speculation on Thursday by announcing that Vinicius had signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until 2032.
Reacting to the announcement on Instagram, former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos expressed his delight over the development.
“Thank goodness, Junior,” Kroos wrote in the comments section of Vinicius’ post.
The new deal ends speculation surrounding the Brazilian international’s future and reinforces Real Madrid’s commitment to keeping one of its key attacking stars for the long term.
