African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has criticised the manner in which President Bola Tinubu was received after returning to Nigeria following an extended stay abroad.
Sowore made the comments in a post on X, where he shared a video of the President’s arrival and reception at the airport.
According to Sowore, Nigeria has repeatedly been used as “health insurance” for presidents whom he characterised as sickly and worn-out.
“We’ve been here before: Nigeria is repeatedly used as health insurance for sickly and worn-out presidents, who are then packaged and presented to the public in staged airport ceremonies while the same failed performances are repeated and the country is further destroyed,” he stated.
Sowore linked the situation to the administrations of Yar’Adua and Buhari, alleging that a similar pattern was now evident under Tinubu.
“The same actors during the Umaru Yar’Adua and Muhammadu Buhari administrations and now Tinubu,” he added.
He further criticised those behind Tinubu’s reception, arguing that Nigerians were being expected to move on without questioning what had happened.
“No shame, no regrets and they want you to move on as though nothing is wrong,” Sowore wrote.
