President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to give his administration more time to complete the reforms he says are designed to correct past mistakes and position the country for a brighter future.
Tinubu said his government inherited longstanding economic challenges and had taken difficult decisions to address problems that, according to him, had been allowed to persist for years.
The President maintained that the reforms may not produce immediate comfort for everyone, but argued that they are necessary to establish a stronger economic foundation for the country.
He therefore appealed to Nigerians to remain patient and allow his administration to complete the work it has started.
Tinubu’s message comes amid continuing public debate over the impact of his economic policies, particularly on household purchasing power, food prices, transportation, energy costs and employment.
The administration has continued to defend its reforms, pointing to investments in infrastructure, agriculture, education, energy and other sectors as evidence of its longer-term development agenda.
The President’s appeal to “allow me to finish” also carries political significance as his administration moves deeper into its tenure.
For Nigerians, the central issue remains whether the reforms and investments being highlighted by government will ultimately translate into improved living conditions.
Tinubu is asking Nigerians to look beyond the immediate difficulties and judge the administration by the future it says it is working to build.
