President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his victory in the state’s governorship election, urging him to remain magnanimous in victory and embrace all residents as he begins another term in office.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully during the election and praised security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the exercise.
The President called on Governor Oyebanji to build on the achievements of his first term while ensuring that governance remains inclusive.
“President Tinubu urges Governor Oyebanji to remain magnanimous in victory and to carry all Ekiti people along as he consolidates on his achievements in the next four years,” the statement read.
Tinubu also commended other candidates who participated in the election, describing the exercise as a demonstration of democratic values. He urged them to support the governor-elect in advancing the state’s development.
“The President also commends all those who contested the election with the governor for exercising their democratic rights, saying it is now time to rally round Oyebanji in the task of taking Ekiti to the next level of governance,” the statement added.
The President further reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working closely with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more democratic dividends and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Governor Oyebanji secured a convincing re-election victory, polling about 85 per cent of the votes cast, making him the first governor in Ekiti State since the return to democratic rule in 1999 to win consecutive re-election.
Reacting to his victory, Oyebanji expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their overwhelming support and confidence in his administration.
He pledged to govern with humility, dedication and inclusiveness, promising to deepen development across all sectors and improve the welfare of every household in the state.
The governor said the outcome of the election reflected the collective desire of Ekiti people for continuity and sustainable development, assuring residents that his second term would be driven by people-centred policies and impactful governance.
