President Bola Tinubu has broken his silence on speculation surrounding his health following his return to Nigeria after spending about four weeks abroad.
Tinubu spoke to journalists shortly after arriving at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday, September 29.
Responding to questions about his health, the President said he was fit and prepared to return to official duties.
“I am ready to kick, ready to work, there is nothing wrong,” Tinubu said.
He also dismissed the speculation surrounding his health, attributing the rumours to politics.
“Rumours will always be emanating from politics, but the fact remains I’m here, healthy and sound and ready to go,” he said.
Tinubu’s comments came shortly after he returned to Nigeria from a working vacation that began in London before he proceeded to Paris, France.
The President said he enjoyed the period abroad when asked about his vacation.
“I enjoyed myself,” he said.
Tinubu departed Nigeria on August 30 and spent about four weeks outside the country before returning through Lagos.
His arrival was witnessed by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor and APC governorship candidate Obafemi Hamzat, Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and other dignitaries.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, who was among those who received the President, said he expected the period of rest to translate into renewed activity from the administration.
“We believe that the days he has spent resting will translate into more action this time around,” Abbas said.
