President Bola Tinubu has appointed the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, as Director of Air Mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential re-election campaign.
The appointment places Keyamo in charge of coordinating air travel and aviation logistics for the party’s nationwide campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
Under the arrangement, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Olubunmi Kuku, will serve as Deputy Director I, while the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Farouk Ahmed Umar, will serve as Deputy Director II.
According to the statement, the directorate will coordinate air transportation for designated campaign officials and personnel, facilitate travel arrangements and support campaign activities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The team is also expected to work with other campaign structures to ensure effective scheduling, operational coordination and appropriate deployment of logistical resources.
The statement highlighted Keyamo’s experience in aviation administration, noting that his familiarity with the sector’s operational requirements is expected to support the directorate’s responsibilities.
However, the campaign’s aviation arrangements are expected to comply with applicable aviation safety regulations and electoral laws.
The statement also stressed the importance of maintaining a clear distinction between political campaign activities and official government functions, with campaign-related arrangements conducted through properly authorised channels.
The appointment forms part of the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
