Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Nigeria, has confirmed that the country will host Africa’s largest international trade fair in 2027, a move aimed at strengthening regional commerce, attracting foreign investment, and expanding Nigeria’s leadership role in continental trade.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, through the State House digital communication platform as part of the administration’s broader economic development strategy under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the presidency, the event is expected to bring together thousands of exhibitors, investors, manufacturers, and trade representatives from across Africa and beyond, creating a platform for partnerships in sectors such as technology, agriculture, manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure.
Government officials say hosting the continental trade exhibition will position Nigeria as a major commercial hub under the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area, the largest free-trade zone in the world by number of participating countries.
Economic analysts believe the event could significantly boost Nigeria’s export opportunities, tourism, and small-business visibility, while also reinforcing the country’s economic diplomacy within Africa.
The planned trade fair is expected to be one of the largest economic gatherings on the continent, showcasing Nigeria’s industrial capacity and strengthening commercial ties across Africa and global markets.
