I have no hatred whatsoever for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, PBAT, God knows. Maybe he’s even doing his best; who knows? Unfortunately, his best is not good enough at this moment. I sincerely hope it will be visible to everyone, especially the suffering masses, one of these days, nay, very soon.
The only problem I’ve always had with Batists is telling us we’re doing great, we’re okay, we’ve never had it this good before. Sincerely, we’re not okay; especially the masses. So many things are out of place. This was not the dream, not the expectation. If I’m okay, I should know. No one should tell me.
We have sunshine, we have rainfall, we have the air we breathe in; ise Olorun ni gbogbo e. The one we expect our government at all levels to do for us, we’re not seeing them. Telling us it didn’t start today is not a child’s talk, not even a drunk’s talk; it has gone beyond being foolish to being mad. We never voted for insecurities to continue. We didn’t vote for unending and endless blackout.
Joblessness is unlimited; an average Nigerian is not lazy. You need to see them here. If we had an enabling environment, all other things being equal, most of us would be fine. They brought the slogan “Change.” We were so happy. So many things need to change. Unfortunately, change has handed over to change, and the only thing we hear now as defence is how Obasanjo failed too! Who did this to us?
The true worth of a man is to look at his friend and tell him to his face when he did something wrong that “Onukun mi, this is not good enough.” We cannot all “sun and k’ori si’bo kan.” My second Master’s was in Politics and International Relations. Whatever makes anyone commend rot in any system is no longer politics; it is sycophancy.
Progressive politics focuses on advancing social, economic, and environmental justice through active government intervention. It advocates for reducing wealth inequality, expanding civil and human rights, addressing inequity and injustice, and protecting the masses from unregulated corporate monopolies. The opposite of progressive politics is generally conservative or reactionary politics. While progressivism seeks to advance society through continuous reform and government intervention, these opposing ideologies focus on maintaining tradition, individual liberty, and free-market capitalism.
We cannot continue to maintain traditions that are killing our system. That was what I thought I heard with the change syndrome. Unfortunately, more than 10 years after the change, we now have an unchanging situation where the changeable is changing and the actual change needed for the changeable to change is still absent.
