Thai police have arrested three foreign nationals, including a Nigerian, for allegedly overstaying their visas as authorities intensify enforcement of the country’s immigration laws.
The arrests were carried out by officers from Patong Police Station during an operation targeting foreigners suspected of violating immigration regulations in Phuket.
The suspects were identified as James Chinekwu Agbo, a Nigerian national; Essam Abdullah, a Kuwaiti national; and Ronelio Sollano, a Filipino national.
According to Thai police, the three were arrested for overstaying their permitted periods of stay in the country. They were taken to Patong Police Station, where legal proceedings were initiated before they are processed under Thailand’s immigration laws.
Authorities did not report that the three suspects were involved in any other crimes.
The arrests form part of Thailand’s continuing efforts to enforce immigration regulations and address illegal stays by foreign nationals.
Thai authorities have increasingly intensified scrutiny of foreigners suspected of violating visa conditions, with immigration offences potentially leading to legal proceedings, detention and deportation.
