A heated drama unfolded at Unit 4, Ward 2 in Ilawe Ekiti during the ongoing governorship election, where supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) engaged in a fierce argument over allegations of vote buying.
Mr. Dare Bejide, the ADC candidate who cast his vote at the unit, claimed that some politicians attempted to distribute an undisclosed amount of money at the polling station but were thwarted. He further alleged that a prominent APC figure arrived in a Toyota Jeep just a few meters from the polling unit, carrying a large sum of money intended for distribution. This situation escalated into an argument and physical altercation.
During the fracas, an ADC supporter sustained a head injury and was promptly rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Despite the chaos, Bejide commended the electoral personnel for their diligence, noting, “Everything is going on very well. You realize that when you came here a few minutes ago, there was pandemonium, but the moment they saw you with your camera, they ran away.”
