A 45-year-old man identified as Mabur Simon has been killed by suspected assailants in Maori Village, Mbar District of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 9:20am on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, according to a military source.
The source told Newsmen that troops of Sector 5, Operation Enduring Peace, were alerted to the attack and immediately mobilised to the community.
Upon arrival, the troops reportedly confirmed the killing.
The circumstances surrounding Simon’s death remain unclear as security agencies have commenced investigations to unravel the motive behind the attack and identify those responsible.
The military source said troops had intensified surveillance in the area to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.
“Our personnel are maintaining vigilance in the area to prevent further incidents and reassure residents of their safety,” the source said.
The latest incident has further raised security concerns in parts of Bokkos, an area that has experienced deadly attacks and communal tensions in recent times.
Security agencies are expected to continue investigations into the killing.
