Nigeria’s Super Eagles have arrived in Antalya, Turkey, ahead of their upcoming international friendly matches against Iran and Jordan during the March FIFA window. The team’s camp was scheduled to open on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, with players and officials beginning preparations for two key test matches now seen as important tune-ups for future competitive fixtures.
The friendlies were originally expected to take place in Jordan, but the tournament was moved to Turkey because of the security situation in the Middle East and movement restrictions affecting the original plan. Nigeria will face Iran on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. local time, before taking on Jordan on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, also in Antalya.
The arrival in Turkey marks the formal start of Eric Chelle’s preparations with the squad for the friendlies, which are expected to help assess form, tactics, and team chemistry. Reports indicate that backroom staff and early-arriving players were already in camp as Nigeria began settling into training activities.
Beyond the routine of international friendlies, these matches carry added significance because both opponents are strong sides and the venue change itself reflects how regional instability can reshape football planning.
