Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has ignited controversy after being seen publicly wearing a cap branded with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) logo, prompting intense online debate over his political alignment and the future of the Yoruba self‑determination movement. The footage was captured on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Ladoja’s first Ramadan lecture following his coronation. In the now‑viral video, Igboho was observed greeting the monarch and the event’s guest lecturer, Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muyideen Salmon, while sporting the APC‑branded cap, drawing sharp reactions from observers both online and offline.
Sunday Igboho, once a vocal campaigner for an independent Yoruba Nation and a figure often at odds with federal security forces, had previously lived in exile following a 2021 raid on his Ibadan residence by the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Army amid allegations of arms stockpiling. He was later detained in the Benin Republic before being cleared for return after interventions by traditional rulers and presidential officials.
The visual of Igboho in APC paraphernalia has sparked mixed reactions, with critics accusing him of abandoning the Yoruba nation cause to align with mainstream party politics, while supporters argue that individual political expression and reconciliation with national structures are legitimate choices.
