Residents have been thrown into shock following the arrest of a young man, Musa, over the alleged killing of his mother, Nana, in a disturbing case of suspected matricide.
According to preliminary accounts, the tragic incident unfolded on Monday night during a heated argument over a ₦40 million inheritance.
Musa had reportedly demanded access to the funds to finance a planned business trip to Canada, but his mother declined, citing fears that the money could be misused.
While the exact location of the incident in Nigeria has not been disclosed, Sources familiar with the family revealed that the disagreement escalated into violence, leading to the mother’s death under circumstances that authorities are now investigating.
In a chilling development, Musa is said to have remained in the house with his mother’s lifeless body for several days without informing neighbours or law enforcement.
His behaviour raised suspicion after operatives eventually tracked him down and arrested him upon his return home. Witnesses reportedly saw him arriving with takeaway shawarma and driving his late mother’s car.
The deceased was laid to rest on Thursday after funeral prayers, as grief and disbelief continue to grip the community.
While security agencies are yet to issue a comprehensive official statement, investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The case has ignited widespread outrage, prompting renewed debate over family conflicts, mental health concerns, and the dangers of unresolved domestic disputes.
