Somali TikToker Issues Death Threat Against Elon Musk, Sparks Security Alarm

By Charles Maduka

A viral video on TikTok has set off alarm bells after a Somali-American content creator appeared to threaten billionaire Elon Musk. In the clip, the influencer, known online as @dowza.z, was heard saying, “I wouldn’t worry too much about him. He about to die,” while reacting to Musk’s recent remarks on alleged fraud in Minnesota.

The video quickly gained traction on X, racking up millions of views and sparking thousands of comments. Many social media users condemned the statement as a direct threat, urging US security agencies, including the FBI, to investigate. The post has since dominated online discussions.

Responding to the viral clip, Musk took to X with a terse message: “Then it is war.” His response intensified public debate, with some expressing concern for his safety, while others questioned the limits of online speech and accountability.

The controversy is linked to Musk’s criticism of alleged large-scale fraud involving Somali-run daycare centres in Minnesota. State audits have reportedly revealed that organised groups exploited childcare subsidy programmes, with losses estimated at over $250 million since 2018.

As the situation develops, the alleged threat has focused renewed attention on Musk’s personal security and the ongoing fraud investigation. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the TikTok video, but the incident has heightened national discussion on online threats, public safety, and the misuse of government funds.
