Several houses have been destroyed, while lives and property were lost following a heavy rainstorm accompanied by strong winds that struck Gashu’a in Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The incident was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday, July 9, 2026, by the member representing Bade East Constituency in the Yobe State House of Assembly, Hon. Sadiq Yahaya Attajiri.
According to the statement, the disaster caused widespread destruction of homes and the surrounding environment, leaving several people injured and claiming an unspecified number of lives.
Hon. Attajiri expressed sympathy to the affected families and assured residents that he would present their plight to the Yobe State Government and relevant authorities to facilitate the provision of urgent humanitarian assistance to victims of the disaster.
The lawmaker also called for swift intervention to support those affected as recovery efforts begin.
