Seun Kuti Fires Back at VeryDarkMan as Online Feud Intensifies

By George Omagbemi Sylvester

Seun Kuti has escalated his ongoing clash with social media personality VeryDarkMan, delivering a fiery response that has deepened tensions across Nigeria’s digital space.

On 26 April 2026, Kuti, during a live session, openly criticised VeryDarkMan and his supporters (popularly known as “Ratels”) questioning their loyalty and accusing them of lacking the courage to stand by their positions. He issued strong warnings, including the now-viral statement, “I go deal with una,” which has since amplified the controversy.

The dispute is rooted in disagreements over activist Omoyele Sowore, with Kuti defending his long-standing relationship with Sowore while critics aligned with VeryDarkMan pushed back.

Earlier signs of friction had already emerged, including both figures unfollowing each other on social media; an indication of a breakdown in what was once a more aligned public stance.

The clash highlights a broader trend in Nigeria’s entertainment and activist circles, where personal alliances, political views, and online influence increasingly collide in highly public and polarising exchanges.
