Russian missile and drone attacks have killed at least 12 people across Ukraine, as multiple cities including Kyiv, Odesa and Dnipro came under heavy overnight bombardment.
According to Ukrainian local authorities, the coordinated strikes targeted residential and civilian infrastructure, leaving widespread destruction across several regions. In Odesa, six people were killed in attacks on the southern port city, while Kyiv recorded at least four deaths, including a 12-year-old child, after a residential building was struck. In Dnipro, two additional fatalities were confirmed following damage to urban areas.
Emergency services reported rescue operations continuing into the morning, with firefighters battling blazes and rescuers pulling survivors from collapsed buildings. In Kyiv, debris from intercepted missiles sparked fires in multiple districts, while medics were among those injured during the response efforts.
The attacks are part of an intensified pattern of Russian aerial assaults in recent weeks, with Ukraine increasingly relying on air defence systems to intercept large waves of drones and missiles.
Despite high interception rates, some projectiles continue to penetrate defensive shields, resulting in civilian casualties and infrastructure damage.
The latest strikes further escalate tensions in the ongoing war, underscoring the continued vulnerability of urban centres far from front-line combat zones and the persistent human cost of the conflict.
