Popular Kenyan televangelist and founder of the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness, David Owuor, has reportedly returned to Kenya after undergoing knee surgery overseas, sparking renewed reactions among his followers ahead of a planned healing crusade.
Posts circulating on social media claimed the preacher successfully underwent surgery in India before returning to Kenya to continue his healing ministry.
However, some online reports and discussions have also variously claimed the procedure took place in Italy or the United States, with no official medical statement released to independently confirm the exact location of the surgery.
Supporters of the self-styled “Mightiest Prophet” welcomed him back with celebrations in parts of Kenya, where crowds reportedly gathered as preparations intensified for upcoming crusades focused on healing and prayer services.
Social media posts shared by followers described the events as part of a major evangelical outreach expected to attract thousands of worshippers.
Owuor, known for drawing massive crowds across East Africa through miracle healing crusades, has remained a controversial religious figure over the years due to extraordinary healing claims associated with his ministry.
In 2023, fact-checking organisation Africa Check dismissed viral claims that the preacher had secretly left Kenya for treatment after purportedly healing followers during a crusade.
The organisation said there was no evidence at the time to support rumours suggesting he had fled abroad for emergency medical care.
Despite the debate surrounding the reports, followers of the preacher say preparations are underway for one of the ministry’s biggest healing gatherings in recent months, with expectations of large attendance from across Kenya and neighbouring countries.
