President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Pastor William Kumuyi, the founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, in celebration of his 85th birthday.
Tinubu hailed Kumuyi as a remarkable servant of God whose unwavering faith and commitment have shaped one of Nigeria’s most influential Christian ministries for over five decades.
In a statement released on Saturday and signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended Kumuyi’s profound impact on believers both in Nigeria and around the globe, emphasizing that his voice, writings, and ministry have reached far beyond the confines of the church.
“As the convener of Global Crusade with Kumuyi, your voice has transcended church walls and national borders, bringing hope and encouragement to millions worldwide,” Tinubu remarked.
“Your writings have illuminated minds, inspired hearts, and provided timeless guidance to those seeking truth and purpose,” he added.
The President also acknowledged the generational impact of Kumuyi’s ministry on families and leadership, stating, “Your ministry and influence have transformed lives, restored families, inspired leaders, and strengthened the faith of generations of believers.”
Tinubu prayed for Kumuyi’s continued health and vitality, saying, “On this special day, I pray that Almighty God continues to grant you strength, divine health, peace, and abundant grace.”
Born on June 6, 1941, in Erin-Ijesha, Osun State, Kumuyi founded the Deeper Life Bible Church in 1973 as a campus fellowship at the University of Lagos, where he served as a mathematics lecturer. The ministry has since evolved into one of the largest Pentecostal denominations in Africa, with congregations in over 150 countries.
Known for his strict doctrinal standards, evangelistic fervour, and personal discipline, Kumuyi has remained one of the most respected voices in African Christianity.
