A housing estate developed by the government in Dungal, Bauchi Local Government Area, to help address the housing shortage in Bauchi State is gradually falling into disrepair after spending years uncompleted and unoccupied.

A visit to the estate revealed visible signs of deterioration, with several buildings already damaged by prolonged exposure to rain and the absence of maintenance.

The inspection also showed that some doors, windows and other building materials had allegedly been removed, while overgrown vegetation has taken over parts of the estate, reflecting the level of neglect.

Residents of Dungal, who spoke on the condition of the estate, expressed concern over its continued abandonment, describing the situation as a waste of public resources and urging the government to take immediate action.

They called on the government to complete the remaining work, secure the estate against further vandalism and allocate the houses to their intended beneficiaries before the structures deteriorate beyond repair.
