The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has disclosed what he said God revealed to him concerning the schoolchildren and teachers abducted by gunmen in Oyo State.
The victims were kidnapped on May 15 after armed men attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area. During the ordeal, the abductors reportedly murdered a mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, and circulated a disturbing video of the killing, sparking outrage and renewed concerns over insecurity.
Speaking in a now-viral video recorded during the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala in Washington, D.C., Adeboye said the incident deeply affected him and led him into a period of fervent prayer.
“I was compelled to cry unto God because we have been fasting and praying for a particular group of schoolchildren who were captured,” he said.
According to the cleric, some critics questioned the effectiveness of those prayers, asking, “You are fasting, you are praying, where is your God?”
Adeboye said he took the matter before God, seeking both divine intervention for the victims and reassurance amid the public criticism.
“God spoke to me. He told me that the release of the children is going to be dramatic,” he said.
The respected cleric explained that although God did not reveal when or how the children would regain their freedom, he was assured that the situation remained under divine control.
“He did not tell me the time or the details. He also spoke about what would happen to those who have been sponsoring terrorism and kidnapping in Nigeria,” Adeboye added.
Reflecting on his engagements with the Federal Government, the RCCG leader recalled advising President Bola Tinubu in 2024 to direct security agencies to intensify efforts against terrorism and kidnapping.
According to him, the President later met with him and subsequently issued directives to the nation’s security chiefs.
Adeboye also defended Tinubu against criticism over the country’s security challenges, arguing that the President had fulfilled his responsibility by giving clear instructions to the relevant agencies.
“When the Commander-in-Chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit. You don’t expect him to go and put on khaki,” he said.
