The Oyo State Government has demolished a building allegedly used by kidnappers to hold the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons captive after their abduction in Ibadan.
A video circulating online on Monday showed heavy-duty equipment pulling down the structure believed to have served as a hideout for the kidnappers.
The victims, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were reportedly abducted while on their way to school in Ibadan.
They were later rescued by security operatives following an intensive operation that led to the arrest of some of the suspects.
Sources said investigations by security agencies traced the kidnappers’ activities to the demolished building, prompting the government’s decision to bring down the structure.
The demolition, which attracted residents and passersby, was carried out amid tight security as officials reiterated the state’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes.
Authorities said the action serves as a warning to criminal elements that Oyo State will not tolerate the use of any property for illegal activities.
The government assured residents of sustained efforts to strengthen security and ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
The video of the demolition has since generated widespread reactions on social media, with many residents commending the government for its swift action against criminal hideouts.
