The Oyo State Government has demolished a building in Ibadan allegedly used as a storage facility for arms and ammunition as part of ongoing efforts to combat insecurity and criminal activities across the state.
The property, located in the Gbenku area along Arubiewe Road, off Olodo Garage in Ibadan, was reportedly identified during a security operation and subsequent investigation by law enforcement agencies.
According to sources, the compound comprised a storey building and two bungalows enclosed within a fenced perimeter.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, said security operatives uncovered the suspected cache of weapons during an ongoing investigation.
He disclosed that the demolition was carried out on the directive of Governor Seyi Makinde, stressing that the administration remains committed to eliminating criminal hideouts and strengthening security across the state.
Mogbonjubola noted that the action forms part of broader measures being implemented by the government to curb criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents.
The latest demolition comes just days after the state government pulled down another building allegedly connected to the abduction of a sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin children.
Authorities have maintained that properties linked to criminal activities will continue to face appropriate sanctions as the government intensifies its crackdown on insecurity in Oyo State.
