Voters at Polling Unit 11, Ward 009, in Osun State have expressed frustration over delays in the commencement of voting in the ongoing governorship election.
The voters, who were seen sitting on the ground at the polling unit, said they arrived as early as 7:00 a.m. but were yet to cast their votes.
One of the voters described the situation as unfair, saying many of them left their homes without eating in anticipation of an early voting process.
“This is unfair to us. Many people did not eat before leaving their homes this morning. We don’t know if we will be allowed to cast our votes or not,” the voter said.
Another voter appealed to the electoral authorities to address the delay, saying, “They should have pity on us in this country and stop making us suffer. We’ve been here since 7:00 am waiting for INEC officials.”
The development was captured in a video shared on social media on Saturday as voters waited for electoral officials to commence the voting process.
The delay comes amid reports of logistical challenges at some polling units across the state, including complaints over the late arrival of officials and difficulties with election materials.
Voting is ongoing across Osun State as voters elect the governor who will steer the affairs of the state for the next four years.
