Osun Poll: ‘Even Jesus’ 12 Disciples can’t save APC’ — Davido Mocks Akpabio, Governors

Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has mocked the All Progressives Congress over the arrival of the party’s top leaders and governors in Osogbo ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

The singer, who is the nephew of incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, reacted after Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and several governors stormed the state for the party’s final campaign rally.

Among the APC governors reported to have arrived in Osogbo were Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State and Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

Former Osun State Governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, had shared a post welcoming the APC bigwigs to the state.

Reacting to the post, Davido dismissed the possibility of the APC winning Saturday’s election, despite the party’s heavy mobilisation.

The singer wrote, “If you like gather Jesus 12 disciples o ma LULE for the 3rd time!!!!!”

Davido’s comment was an apparent reference to the large number of APC leaders and governors gathered in Osun, with the singer sarcastically suggesting that even having all 12 disciples of Jesus on the party’s side would not guarantee victory.

He further predicted that the APC would suffer another defeat in the state, saying the party would “LULE” — a Yoruba expression meaning to lose.

The singer’s intervention has added another layer to the increasingly heated political contest in Osun, where his uncle, Adeleke, is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.

The APC has, however, expressed confidence in its chances of defeating the incumbent administration at the August 15 poll, with its national leadership and governors joining the final campaign push.

Davido has remained vocal about the election on social media, using his platform to comment on developments involving the major political actors as the state heads to the polls.

With the campaign entering its final stage, attention is now focused on Saturday’s election and whether Davido’s prediction will be borne out by the ballot.
