The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a kidnapping incident captured on Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) in the Oda area of Akure.
Police authorities also confirmed the rescue of three victims abducted during the incident.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the arrests followed the circulation of CCTV footage on social media showing the abduction.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, ordered the immediate deployment of intelligence assets after the footage surfaced.
The command said its intelligence team leveraged digital surveillance analysis and coordinated field operations to identify and apprehend the suspects.
Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad subsequently carried out targeted operations based on credible intelligence, leading to the arrest of one suspect, whose confession resulted in the apprehension of two other accomplices.
The suspects were identified as Mohammed Koro, 27; Muhammad Usman, 30; and Musa Alhaji, 23. Preliminary investigations indicated that they played different roles in the alleged crime.
The police disclosed that the victims—Tosin Adesida, Adeniran Adesuyi and Adewunmi Adewusi—were rescued during the operation.
They were later debriefed and taken to hospital for medical attention.
The command added that the suspects had made confessional statements and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
Reaffirming the command’s resolve to tackle crime, Lawal warned that the state would not serve as a safe haven for criminals and assured residents of continued efforts to protect lives and property.
