Ondo PDP Has No Candidates Ahead of 2027 General Election — Ex-Ondo Rep Omogbehin

—Labels politicians parading as PDP candidates as ‘gatecrashers’

AKURE, Ondo State — In a stinging rebuke on Tuesday, former House of Representatives member, Hon. Mike Omogbehin has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) currently has no legitimate candidates for any National Assembly seats ahead of the 2027 general elections in Ondo State.

Speaking in an exclusive, heated telephone interview with Starnews NG, the vocal PDP chieftain lashed out at what he described as an influx of desperate “political defectors” attempting to hijack the party’s structure through Abuja backchannels.

The controversy erupted following a fiery social media post by Hon. Omogbehin, where he condemned a newly formed “Rainbow Coalition” (ESUnmare) as a “despicable political adventure.” Providing critical context to his statements in a telephone conversation with Starnews NG, Omogbehin revealed that the coalition is a desperate scheme by disgruntled All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants who, after losing out in their own party’s primaries, sneaked to Abuja only to return parading themselves as handpicked PDP candidates.

“To think that some people can return to their vomit, gulping the same with relish in the name of a devilish coalition, is shameless,” Omogbehin stated fiercely. “They all claimed the PDP was dead in Ondo State, yet here they are. They are a bunch of directionless leaders with jaundiced integrity and a mean disposition toward the welfare of our people. This Tower of Babel will collapse on their heads.”

“We Don’t Know Them” — Ondo Structure Intact

Omogbehin clarified that only himself and Hon. (Dr.) Olakunde remain as the surviving former National Assembly members steadfast within the Ondo State PDP. He emphatically warned that any tickets distributed outside the constitutional framework are completely invalid.”I want to say categorically, without mincing words, that the PDP has no candidates for any of the National Assembly elections ahead of 2027,” Omogbehin asserted.

“The executives of the PDP in Ondo State were duly elected before the national crisis that befell our party, and they still have three more years left in their tenure. No court has invalidated or removed them, and nobody can remove them by fiat in the name of a coalition.”

“The state congress was held on the 27th of September 2025, under Ambassador Umar Damagum ( led NWC and NEC, long before the crisis that emerged under Kabiru Tanimu Turaki. Our State Chairman is Barrister Dupe Aisida, who defeated the current impostor parading himself as PDP Chairman black and blue in the 27th September, 2025 congress.

He Expressed shock at the audacity of those he described as gatecrashers. He said, “It is a surprise that gatecrashers, that is, people who are completely unknown to the state executives, local government and ward executives, are now parading themselves as candidates of our party across various local governments. We do not know them, and the Ondo PDP executives do not know them.”

Omogbehin issued a stern reminder that the PDP national body lacks the constitutional power to unilaterally impose candidates on a state division without following due process. He further accused current APC members and Ondo State government appointees of trying to play a double game.”Ridiculously, a majority of the APC in Ondo State and state appointees are now the ones chanting the slogan of the PDP. You cannot eat your cake and have it.

“We will restrict them. How can anyone bypass the PDP constitution and state executives to grab a ticket? Whoever wants to join us must start from the ward level. PDP is not the lawless APC that routinely violates its own constitution.”

Vowing that the party will not take the imposition lightly, the former lawmaker threatened aggressive litigation to purge the party of gatecrashers.”With time, we will ask the court to set the record straight. All of these gatecrashers, I mean all the purported candidates will be fiercely resisted through legal means,” Omogbehin concluded.
