A tragic incident unfolded in Ondo State as a man reportedly ended his life after setting both himself and his estranged wife on fire.
The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, carried out the act following a conflict that had kept the couple separated for some time.
The man allegedly lured his wife to his residence under the pretense of collecting a wardrobe.
Upon her arrival, he locked the door and threatened to harm himself. Moments later, he poured fuel, igniting a fire that claimed his life on the spot.
His wife, though severely burned, survived and is currently receiving treatment after being moved between three hospitals within a short span.
Authorities have urged individuals to prioritize their safety by avoiding dangerous relationships.
