The Ondo State Government has appealed to residents and commuters in the Ijoka area of Akure to remain patient as construction work continues on the ongoing road project in the community.
The appeal was made by the Ondo State Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, during an inspection visit to the project site.
He acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the prolonged construction but assured residents that the government is intensifying efforts to ensure timely completion of the road.
According to the commissioner, the state government understands the difficulties being faced by motorists and residents within the axis, noting that measures are being put in place to reduce the burden created by the ongoing work.
“We understand the challenges residents and road users are facing in this area. Although the project has taken longer than expected, we appeal to the people to continue to exercise patience as the government works tirelessly to complete the project and ease the hardship,” Olawoye stated.
He reiterated that the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa remains committed to completing all inherited projects across the state while also embarking on new developmental initiatives.
Olawoye explained that the Ijoka Road project was inherited by the current administration and has experienced several setbacks, but assured that the government is determined to deliver the project successfully.
“Ijoka Road is among the projects inherited by this administration. We have completed nearly all inherited projects statewide, and despite the challenges affecting this one, we are committed to seeing it completed,” he added.
The state government also assured residents that efforts are ongoing to improve traffic flow and minimize disruptions around the construction corridor as work progresses.
