Ondo Becomes First South West State to Implement New Salary Structure for UNIMEDTH

The Ondo State Government has approved the immediate implementation of the revised CONMESS and CONHESS salary structures for medical doctors and other health workers at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH).

The approval was given by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, marking a major policy shift aimed at improving the welfare of healthcare professionals in the state.

According to the Chief Medical Director of UNIMEDTH, Professor Michael Olumide Gbala, the official circular authorizing the domestication and rollout of the new salary structure has already been received by the hospital management. He confirmed that implementation takes effect immediately.

State officials say the decision is part of broader efforts by the administration to boost staff motivation, strengthen healthcare delivery, and address longstanding concerns over remuneration in the health sector.

With the development, Ondo State becomes the first in the South West region to fully adopt and implement the revised salary structure for health workers under the current administration.

Health workers at UNIMEDTH have welcomed the announcement, describing it as a positive step toward resolving years of wage-related concerns and improving morale within the system.

All categories of health workers in the state are expected to benefit from the implementation.
