Omo-Agege Warns Election Riggers Ahead of 2027 Polls

By George Omagbemi

Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has issued a warning against electoral manipulation ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, declaring that anyone caught rigging the polls would face deadly consequences.

Omo-Agege, who is seeking election to represent Delta Central Senatorial District under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), reportedly made the remarks while addressing supporters at a campaign event in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State.

“I want to make news again: Anybody who rig election that day, we will kill him. Rig and die,” he said, according to reports.

The former senator argued that electoral fraud deprives citizens of their democratic rights and threatens the future of voters and their children. He also criticised the practice of advising candidates who allege electoral malpractice to seek redress in court.

Omo-Agege represented Delta Central in the Senate from 2015 to 2023 and served as Deputy Senate President between 2019 and 2023. He joined the NDC in May 2026 after leaving the All Progressives Congress.

While electoral manipulation undermines democracy, threats to kill alleged offenders raise serious concerns. Election-related offences should be investigated and prosecuted through lawful procedures rather than vigilante violence.

As political activities intensify, candidates and parties are expected to promote peaceful participation and respect the rule of law ahead of the 2027 elections.
