Fresh political tension has emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following reports that former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has allegedly distanced himself from the party after losing the Delta Central Senatorial ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development comes amid growing internal disputes and dissatisfaction surrounding the APC primaries across several states.
Omo-Agege, one of the APC’s most influential figures in Delta State, reportedly lost the senatorial primary to incumbent Senator Ede Dafinone during the party’s controversial selection process.
The outcome reportedly triggered protests and political disagreements among supporters within the Delta APC structure.
Although there has not yet been an official public statement directly confirming his resignation from the APC, political observers say the alleged move reflects increasing frustration among senior party members who lost return tickets during the 2026 primaries. Several lawmakers and influential politicians across Nigeria have reportedly expressed anger over allegations of imposition, consensus arrangements, and internal power struggles within the ruling party.
The situation is expected to further reshape political alignments in Delta State ahead of the 2027 general election, especially as opposition parties continue strategic consultations and coalition discussions nationwide.
