Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has announced his enlistment into the United States Army after successfully completing Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, describing the achievement as a tribute to his late father.
The actor shared the milestone on his Instagram page, revealing that the decision to join the military came two decades after the death of his father, who served in the Nigeria Police Force.
According to Momodu, enlisting in the U.S. Army represents a continuation of his father’s legacy of public service and sacrifice.
“On April 12, 2026, I honoured my late father in a historic way. Twenty years after his passing, I picked up the baton where he left off in the Nigerian Police Force and carried it forward by getting enlisted into the United States Army,” he wrote.
Momodu disclosed that he now serves as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment.
Expressing gratitude, the actor thanked God for helping him pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) examination on his first attempt and successfully complete his military training.
He dedicated the achievement to God, his late father, the royal family of Oba Momodu II, and the Avhiele Clan in Agbede, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
Momodu’s transition from Nollywood to military service has attracted widespread praise from fans, colleagues and supporters, many of whom described the move as an inspiring tribute to his father’s memory and a remarkable new chapter in his life.
