Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed 24 suspected terrorists during a military operation in Borno State, recovering a cache of weapons and equipment.
The operation was reported on April 22, 2026, as part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in Nigeria’s North-East region, where troops continue to intensify offensives against insurgent groups.
According to military sources, the terrorists were neutralised during a coordinated ground operation targeting identified hideouts, with troops engaging the fighters in a gun battle.
Weapons and other items recovered during the operation reportedly include firearms and ammunition, although full details of the inventory have not yet been officially disclosed.
The Nigerian military has sustained pressure on insurgent strongholds in Borno, particularly under Operation Hadin Kai, aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and restoring stability in the region.
Borno State remains the epicentre of Nigeria’s long-running insurgency, with security forces conducting frequent clearance and offensive operations against groups such as Boko Haram and ISWAP.
The latest operation highlights continued military efforts to degrade insurgent capabilities, even as sporadic attacks and security challenges persist across parts of the North-East.
