The Nigerian Army reinforced its commitment to community development on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, by donating educational materials to pupils of Ogwumabiri Primary School in Lilu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State. The outreach, carried out by officers of the 82 Division, featured the distribution of school bags and exercise books aimed at promoting learning and academic excellence.
Representing the General Officer Commanding, Brigadier-General S. A. Jimoh explained that the initiative was designed not only to support education but also to strengthen civil-military relations and foster a sense of belonging within host communities. He emphasised that education remains a powerful tool for social and economic development, urging pupils to make effective use of the materials.
The event also highlighted ongoing efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the area, with military officials encouraging displaced residents to return as security improves. Community leaders and school authorities expressed gratitude, noting that the gesture would significantly enhance learning conditions for the pupils.
Beyond the donation, the initiative reflects a broader strategy by the Nigerian Army to combine security operations with humanitarian engagement, building trust and cooperation between the military and civilian population.
