Nigeria Confirms US Bombing of Islamic Terrorists Following Trump’s Announcement

Abuja, Nigeria – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has confirmed the recent bombing of Islamic terrorists in the country, as earlier announced by the US President Donald Trump.

This statement marks a significant development in the ongoing security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States in combating terrorism and violent extremism.

In a statement released on Twitter today, the Ministry highlighted that Nigerian authorities remain actively engaged in structured security cooperation with international partners, including the United States, to address the persistent threat posed by terrorist groups.

This collaboration has resulted in precision airstrikes targeting terrorists in Nigeria’s North West region.

The statement read: “In line with established international practice and bilateral understandings, this cooperation includes the exchange of intelligence, strategic coordination, and other forms of support consistent with international law, mutual respect for sovereignty, and shared commitments to regional and global security.”

Nigeria reiterated that all counter-terrorism efforts are guided by the primacy of protecting civilian lives, safeguarding national unity, and upholding the rights and dignity of all citizens, regardless of faith or ethnicity. The Ministry condemned all forms of terrorist violence, stating that such acts—whether directed at Christians, Muslims, or other communities—are an affront to Nigeria’s values and to international peace and security.

The Federal Government continues to work closely with its partners through established diplomatic and security channels to weaken terrorist networks, disrupt their financing and logistics, and prevent cross-border threats. Additionally, efforts are being made to strengthen Nigeria’s own security institutions and intelligence capabilities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has committed to ongoing engagement with relevant partners and will keep the public informed through appropriate official channels as the situation develops.
