The newly appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Segun Aina, has unveiled a five-year development agenda aimed at transforming the examination body into Africa’s most trusted, innovative and technology-driven admissions institution by 2031.
Aina, who officially assumed office on Monday after succeeding Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, announced the reform plan, titled “JAMB 2031: Building Trust, Reducing Trauma,” as the blueprint that will guide the board’s operations from 2026 to 2031.
The 40-year-old professor of Computer Engineering said the agenda is designed to consolidate the achievements recorded under his predecessor while introducing innovations that will strengthen transparency, efficiency and service delivery.
According to a statement issued by JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the development agenda is built around “Project 2:5:7,” comprising two strategic objectives, five core pillars and seven flagship initiatives aimed at repositioning the board as a globally respected assessment and admissions institution.
Aina said the plan is anchored on JAMB’s statutory responsibility of providing fair, credible, secure and equitable access to tertiary education through transparent registration, credible examinations and merit-based admission processes.
He explained that the five pillars of the reform agenda are integrity, service, governance, technology and partnership.
On integrity, Aina said JAMB would strengthen institutional credibility by pursuing internationally recognised standards, including ISO 27001 Information Security Certification, independent technology reviews and transparent systems that inspire public confidence.
He added that the board would also improve customer experience through responsive service delivery, strengthen internal governance, enhance performance monitoring, improve contract management and ensure greater operational accountability.
As part of its technology-driven reforms, the new registrar disclosed that JAMB would expand its digital infrastructure to improve decision-making and service delivery while deepening collaboration with financial institutions and other stakeholders.
The seven flagship initiatives include a comprehensive independent review of JAMB’s technology infrastructure, attainment of ISO 27001 certification, development of a unified JAMB mobile application, strategic communication and brand repositioning, establishment of a unified customer service platform, implementation of a paperless enterprise-wide digital administration system, and enhanced staff welfare and capacity development.
Aina stressed that although technology would remain central to the board’s transformation agenda, its workforce would remain its greatest asset.
He urged members of staff to embrace innovation, professionalism and teamwork, noting that institutions achieve lasting success when employees are united by shared values and a common purpose.
The registrar reaffirmed his commitment to building stronger institutional systems that will outlive individuals, deepen public trust and position JAMB as a global benchmark in technology-driven examination and admissions administration.
