Nigerian content creator Carter Efe has come under criticism after footage from one of his livestreams showed him and members of his team engaging in a stunt involving cement.
In the video circulating online, Carter Efe and the other participants were seen throwing cement at one another and smearing the material over their bodies as they interacted during the livestream.
The stunt has triggered a wave of reactions on X, with some users questioning the safety of the activity and whether such content should be presented as entertainment to a large online audience.
One user, @betsage24, described the stunt as one of the most disturbing things seen online recently and raised concerns about the potential effect of cement exposure on the respiratory system.
Another user, @DfwJiggy_Xx, questioned the type of content being presented to viewers and asked what young people watching the livestream were expected to learn from it.
“If Carter Efe comes down with any disease that affects the respiratory system, know that he worked for it,” the user wrote, while also referring to previous content involving cosmetic powder.
Another X user, @BossAY9, asked whether Carter Efe and his colleagues understood the potential health implications of exposing themselves to cement.
“Do you know what silicosis and other lungs ailments are?????” the user wrote.
@Geezyprotips described the activity as entertainment that nevertheless put Carter Efe and others in the studio at risk.
“How silly can this even be, the health hazard join… How can anyone see this as funny,” the user wrote.
@ibraheemosule called for greater regulation of social media content, arguing that harmful trends could spread quickly when they are presented as entertainment.
Another user, @BrodaFrayo, also criticised the stunt, saying the participants could later require medical treatment as a consequence of such activities.
The reactions come amid continued debate over the lengths content creators go to in order to attract viewers and generate engagement on livestreaming platforms.
