NERC Reports N191.86bn DisCo Revenue Collection in June

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has reported that electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected N191.86 billion from customers in June 2026.

The commission disclosed this in its commercial performance fact sheet for the 11 DisCos, showing that the companies billed customers N240.71 billion for electricity worth N315.73 billion received during the month.

This left a N75.02 billion gap between the value of electricity received by the DisCos and the amount billed to customers.

NERC said billing efficiency dropped slightly to 76.24 per cent in June from 76.87 per cent recorded in May.

Revenue collection also declined from N208.15 billion in May to N191.86 billion in June, representing a notable month-on-month reduction.

The commission put the DisCos’ collection efficiency at 79.71 per cent, down from 82.32 per cent in May.

Overall, the electricity distribution industry recorded a recovery efficiency of 74.24 per cent, with actual collections averaging N96.63 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), compared with an allowed average tariff of N130.15/kWh.

DisCos record mixed performances

Kano DisCo recorded the highest billing efficiency at 84.96 per cent, followed by Eko DisCo with 83.02 per cent and Port Harcourt DisCo with 80.78 per cent.

Yola DisCo had the lowest billing efficiency among the 11 companies at 67.12 per cent.

For revenue collection efficiency, Benin DisCo led with 94 per cent, while Ikeja DisCo recorded 89 per cent and Eko DisCo 88.64 per cent.

Kano DisCo had the lowest collection efficiency at 42.16 per cent, followed by Kaduna DisCo at 46.13 per cent and Jos DisCo at 55.18 per cent.

On revenue recovery, Eko DisCo ranked highest with 87.04 per cent, followed by Port Harcourt DisCo at 86.33 per cent and Benin DisCo at 82.23 per cent.

Kaduna DisCo recorded the weakest revenue recovery performance at 37.03 per cent, while Kano and Jos DisCos posted 44.04 per cent and 51.33 per cent, respectively.
