The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reported that domestic airlines delayed 4,765 flights and cancelled 36 others in August 2026. Data from the regulator shows that 15 carriers operated 7,961 flights, with 59.9 per cent suffering delays.
Air Peace and United Nigeria Airlines were specifically flagged for recording the highest number of disruptions during the period.
Separately, the NCAA has fined RwandAir N15 million for failing to resolve a damaged baggage complaint within the mandated timeframe.
Under Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023, the airline must also replace the passenger’s bag and pay $170 in immediate compensation. The regulator stated that this sanction highlights the importance of airline compliance with consumer protection standards.
