Mysterious Deaths Reportedly Claim Over 24 Lives in Odigbo

Tragedy has struck the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, where more than 24 people have reportedly died in a suspected poisoning incident.

Several other residents affected by the incident are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals as authorities work to determine the cause of the deaths. The fatalities occurred across the Araromi-Obu, Orita New Town, and Odigbo communities.

Taiwo Adegoroye, the Chairman of Odigbo Local Government Area, confirmed the situation but stated that he could not provide further details until medical experts conduct a professional assessment in the affected areas.

Adegoroye noted that the council has implemented precautionary measures to prevent further incidents, including restricting the sale and consumption of sachet herbal concoctions and similar drinks being hawked in the area.

Residents have expressed growing concern over the safety of these unregulated substances, which are commonly consumed in these communities. Authorities are now preparing to conduct medical examinations and laboratory analyses to identify the potential source of the poisoning and confirm the cause of the illnesses and deaths.

In the meantime, residents have been advised to exercise caution and avoid consuming any suspicious herbal concoctions, unverified sachet products, or other substances of uncertain origin until the investigation is concluded.
