Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, has arrived in Abuja ahead of an international conference focused on security, national unity, peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.
Al-Issa arrived in Nigeria on Monday, August 10, 2026, ahead of the conference jointly organised by the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) and the Muslim World League of Saudi Arabia.
He was received at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris, Minister of Health and Social Welfare Ali Pate, Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu and other dignitaries.
The international conference is scheduled to hold in Abuja on Tuesday, August 11, with discussions expected to focus on Nigeria’s security challenges, national unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
Organisers said the meeting is not restricted to religious issues but will address broader questions of human development, security, inclusion and peaceful coexistence.
The conference is expected to attract government officials, governors, members of the National Assembly, Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, diplomats and other stakeholders.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to participate in the high-level gathering, which comes amid continuing efforts to address insecurity and strengthen national cohesion.
Al-Issa’s visit further highlights the growing engagement between Nigeria and the Muslim World League on issues concerning peace, security, interfaith relations and development.
The conference is expected to conclude with a national preaching session at the JIBWIS headquarters in Utako, Abuja, on Wednesday.
