Mr Ibu’s Family Cries Out for Help as Widow Reveals Struggle to Survive

The family of late Nollywood comic legend, , popularly known as Mr Ibu, has appealed to Nigerians for support as they continue to battle financial hardship more than a year after the actor’s passing.

The appeal was made during an emotional interview with content creator King Mitchy, where the actor’s widow and children spoke candidly about the difficulties they have faced since the death of the beloved entertainer.

According to the widow, the family has been living without electricity for nearly two months after their power supply was disconnected due to unpaid bills. She revealed that they now rely on water from a well because they can no longer afford basic household utilities.

Describing their situation, she said meeting everyday needs has become increasingly difficult, adding that outstanding rent and other financial obligations have compounded their challenges.

“We fetch water from the well because I have not paid the house rent. Our electricity has been disconnected for two months, and every night we have to look for somewhere to charge our phones. It has not been easy,” she lamented.

One of the late actor’s daughters praised her mother for her resilience and determination despite the family’s struggles.

She said her mother has continued to do everything possible to provide food, pay school fees and keep the family together during the difficult period.

The widow also disclosed that her children’s education is under threat as unpaid tuition fees could prevent them from returning to school.

She explained that the school recently sent another reminder regarding the outstanding fees, leaving the family worried about the future of the children’s education.

King Mitchy, who conducted the interview, said the public appeal was intended to seek assistance for the family in settling school fees, paying rent and restoring electricity to their home.

Mr Ibu, widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most iconic comic actors, passed away on March 2, 2024, at the age of 62 following a prolonged illness. His death sparked an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans and admirers across Nigeria and beyond.

More than a year after his passing, his family is now calling on well-meaning Nigerians, friends and supporters of the late actor to come to their aid as they navigate mounting financial difficulties.
