The grieving mother of Delta-based musician, Oghenemine Ogidi, has called for strict punishment for police officers involved in her son’s killing, insisting they should face the same fate he suffered.
Ogidi, popularly known as Mene or OG Millan, was allegedly shot dead on April 26, 2026, in Effurun by an Assistant Superintendent of Police, identified as Nuhu Usman.
He had reportedly been arrested over suspicion of transporting a parcel said to contain a firearm and ammunition.
The incident sparked nationwide outrage after a viral video showed the musician handcuffed and pleading before he was shot.
In an emotional reaction, the bereaved mother said that while no form of justice could bring back her son, those responsible must be held accountable.
She demanded that all officers present at the scene be prosecuted, stressing that they should face the same punishment inflicted on her son.
She also called for a thorough investigation into others linked to the case, including the driver who transported the parcel and the park chairman.
Amid public outcry, the Nigeria Police Force confirmed the arrest of the officer involved, who has since been transferred to Abuja for disciplinary procedures and is expected to face murder charges.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, described the incident as an extrajudicial killing and assured the family that justice would be served.
The killing has reignited concerns over police conduct and accountability in Nigeria, with many calling for urgent reforms within the force.
